Sports Betting FAQ
HOW TO BET USING THE UNIT SYSTEM
1.) Create your bankroll: This is the amount you set aside for yourself to bet. This is the number that you don't allow yourself to go under. So if your bankroll is $1,000, $5,000, or $10,000 DO NOT let yourself go under this in losses.
2.) Create your base unit: This is the benchmark amount that you would place on your bets. For example, if your base unit is $50
- 1 Unit Plays would be $50
- 2 Unit Plays would be $100
- 3 Unit Plays would be $150
and so on..
3.) KNOW YOUR LIMITS!
Your base unit should be 1-3% of your bankroll. Never bet beyond your means. It is perfectly fine to start out with a small bankroll and build. You can always increase your unit size as you start to get more comfortable. You should put some serious thought in your bankroll amount before betting.
4.) What are some common bankroll management mistakes?
Raising your unit size during hot streaks is a recipe for a disaster, as is lowering your unit size or not placing bets at all during cold spells. Think of sports betting like the stock market; It will have ups and downs but it will go up over time with us. You have to keep making the picks to have longterm success.
